Mehul Shani is the President and a co-founder of SP Engineers, Ltd. and has over 20 years of experience in structural engineering. Mehul began his career with a structural engineering firm in Trinidad, one of the Caribbean islands, where he worked on an array of project types in the Caribbean and South America including resort hotels, a stadium and a cruise ship wharf.

Mehul came to Chicago in 2001 to work for a Chicago structural engineering firm where he gained experience in analysis and design for local projects. In 2006 he co-founded SP Engineers. Since the inception of the company Mehul has been involved in the design of residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, governmental, and office buildings. His wide range of experience has allowed him to develop a breadth of knowledge and attention to detail that help ensure the success of his projects.

Mehul obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Gujarat University, India, and his Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Windsor in Canada. He is a licensed structural engineer in Illinois and licensed professional engineer in Pennsylvania.

Jeff is a principal and co-founder of SP Engineers, Ltd and has over 20 years of experience in structural engineering. Prior to founding SP Engineers, Jeff worked in design and research and testing for a manufacturing company before moving to a structural engineering firm to focus on design.

In 2006 he co-founded SP Engineers and has since worked on a wide range of projects including residential, commercial, institutional, office, and industrial buildings. His experience includes new construction as well as extensive experience in renovation projects throughout the Chicagoland area. By being directly involved in all aspects of a project he has gained an insight into project-specific needs from a client’s, architect’s, and contractor’s perspective. Jeff obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Jeff is a licensed structural engineer in Illinois and a licensed professional engineer in several states.

Hirak began his employment with SP Engineers as a summer intern. After graduating, Hirak went on to work in the engineering department of the international firm Larsen & Toubro based in India. While at Larsen & Toubro, Hirak served as a site engineer to gain real world experience on industrial projects in Russia and the Middle East.

Hirak rejoined SP Engineers full time in 2013 and has worked on a variety of projects including residential, commercial and office. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Surat, India and his Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Southern California.

Jacqueline joined SP Engineers in 2017 providing over 20 years of experience in the field of structural engineering. Prior to coming to SP Engineers Jacqueline worked for the Chicago structural engineering firms of Cohen, Barreto and Marchertas, Thornton-Tomasetti, and Matrix Engineering. Jacqueline specializes in construction administration, QAQC and construction field issues.

Jacqueline has worked on projects in both the private and public sectors. She has been involved on projects which cover a diverse cross section of building types including commercial, industrial, residential (high and low rise), governmental and institutional. Jacqueline obtained her Bachelor of Architecture with a major in Engineering and Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Michael joined Spengineers in 2018 after working in the industrial sector. While with Spengineers he has focused mainly on multi-family residential projects.

Michael earned his Bachelor in Civil Engineering and Master of Science and Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Anna joined SP Engineers in 2008 after graduating from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Since then she has worked on a variety of residential and commercial projects gaining experience in both new and rehab construction.

Along the way Anna earned a Master of Science degree in Structural Analysis from a joined program in Czech Republic and Spain.

Alex joined SP Engineers in 2016, providing a wide range of experience gained from working in an array of sectors in the industry. Alex started his career in the US Navy where he worked in construction. After serving, he obtained his Architectural Technology degree from Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. Subsequently Alex gained experience drafting and designing BIM/3D models in the industrial, architectural, and structural sectors.

Alex is currently our main drafter and designer for structural drawings and REVIT structural models.
